Hi, I’m Francis Sheehy with Liberty Oxygen and Medical Equipment. Today I’m going to show you how to clean your CPAP machine with daily, weekly and monthly instructions.
We’re going to start out by disconnecting the mask from the tubing and disconnect the tubing from the machine. Today I’m demonstrating with a Respironics 560. Once you disconnect the mask, you can take the water chamber out and if there is any excess water in it you are going to pour it out and let it air dry until the next use. For use with your CPAP mask, there are wipes that are non-alcoholic and designed specifically for the CPAP mask. Do not use any bleach or Clorox wipes on your mask, it will ruin the seal. So if you have these CPAP Mask Wipes, take one out and wipe around the edges of your mask, inside, and underneath the seal. I am demonstrating on an Amara View Respironics CPAP mask.
Daily: Wipe mask with a warm damp cloth (or use a CPAP mask wipe); empty and set out water chamber to dry; drain excess water from tubing and hang to dry until next use.
Weekly: Soak mask, headgear, tubing and water chamber in warm soapy water then allow to air dry until next use.
Monthly: Rinse out the reusable black filter in a Respironics CPAP machine with warm soapy water and allow it to air dry before replacing back in the machine; replace disposable white filter (more frequently if discolored); wipe down CPAP machine with a damp cloth.
